IST Biennial Travel Scholarships

Applications are invited for the ScholarshipClosing date for submission of applications: 29th February 2008

The Irish Society of Toxicology intends to make available a number of grant awards under its Travel Grant Fund during 2008. These travel scholarships will be tenable during the period from 1st April to 31st December 2008. Their purpose is to promote national interest in, and awareness of, toxicology by members of the Society and in particular those undergraduate or postgraduate student members who may wish to present work at an international conference or to undertake educational activities or training overseas (e.g. learn new techniques in a laboratory). The activity for which an application is made must reflect the purpose towards which the scholarship is made available. While the scheme is primarily to facilitate the gaining of experience overseas, activities in the Republic of Ireland may be considered in exceptional cases.

Before completing the application form available here, prospective candidates should consider the guiding principles outlined below. The Committee of the IST, in consultation with two independent reviewers, will make their decision on the awards based on these principles. The Secretary of IST will inform all applicants of the outcome.

The completed application, together with a copy of a recent curriculum vitae, an outline of the projected costs and a short abstract of the proposed activity and a letter of support from the supervisor(s) or tutor, should be sent (by 29th February 2008) to:
