The Centre for Assured, SafE and Traceable food (ASSET) was launched in January 2009 at Queen’s University, Belfast. Headed by Professor Chris Elliott, the aim of this Project is to forge links with Institutions in the North and South of Ireland that will work towards improving animal health, improving safety of meat and milk and delivering new and innovative ways of produce traceability. The four key strands within the Project are: Sensor Technology; Proteomics Research; Spectroscopic and Isotopic Fingerprinting and Supply Chain Management. ASSET hopes to interweave all four strands of the Project to help provide a food supply chain which is safe, transparent, rapidly traceable and sustainable. For further information, please visit the website www.qub.ac.uk/asset.
